Express Entry is an immigration system which selects skilled workers to Canada under Federal Economic programs.

Express Entry is a simplified, fast and efficient immigration selection system offering permanent residence to qualified skilled workers to Canada.  It applies to the following economic class programs: 

  • Federal Skilled Worker Program
  • Canadian Experience Class
  • Federal Skilled Trades Program
  • Provincial Nominees

How can you apply for Express Entry?

EXPRESS ENTRY: A TWO-STEP PROCESS

Step 1: Create your online profile

Candidates for permanent residence across 347 occupations including (Management & Financial Services; Engineering, Information Technology & Sciences; Health Occupations; Skilled Trades etc.) who meet minimum entry criteria, may submit an expression of interest profile in the Express Entry Pool. Qualifications include Age, Education, Language Proficiencies, work experience and other factors. 

The profiles of candidates in the pool are ranked under a Comprehensive Ranking System measuring their human capital contribution to Canada. 

Candidates without a job offer or provincial nomination are required to submit an employment profile with the Canada Job Bank.

Step 2: Receive your invitation to apply for permanent residence

Canadian employers who cannot access Canadians for hire are encouraged to provide a job offer to candidates of their choice in the Express Entry Pool.  Candidates with job offers or with provincial nomination receive the highest rank.

The profiles of all candidates will be assessed against others in the pool.  The highest ranked candidates from among those offered a job by a Canadian employer or with provincial nomination and without a job offer will be considered for an invitation to apply for Canadian permanent residence.  Candidates receiving an invitation must submit a full application within a span of 60-days.  Invitations will be issued during periodic draws throughout the year. 

Cases of successful applicants and their accompanying dependants will be processed in approximately 6-months.

EXPRESS ENTRY: A TWO-STEP PROCESS

Step 1: Candidates submit an online express entry profile

Candidates who meet minimum entry criteria, express interest to acquire permanent residency by submitting an online profile to the Express Entry Pool.  Their profile and qualifications including age, education, language proficiencies, work experience and other factors are ranked under a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), measuring their human capital contribution to Canada. 

Candidates without a job offer or provincial nomination must also submit an employment profile with the Canada Job Bank which can be accessed by Canadian employers.

Step 2: Canadian employers, provincial & federal governments select candidates

Approved employers are invited to hire pre-screened candidates from the Express Entry Pool where no Canadians are available.  Hired candidates are offered invitations from the Federal government to apply for permanent residence.  Invitations are issued during periodic draws throughout the year.

Candidates receiving an invitation must submit a full application within 60-days. 

The profile of candidates remains in the Express Entry Pool for 12 months.  Successful applicants and their accompanying dependants are processed within 6-months. 

Invitation to Apply

If you are invited to apply for permanent residence, you will need to show proof of the information you gave us in your Express Entry profile Your application shall be withheld if the information in your profile is different from what you submitted in your application.

If we invite you to apply, you will get a message in your account telling you:

  • which program you are invited under, and
  • what to do next.

If it is found that the candidate has misrepresented him/herself (has provided false information or left out important details), In such case:

  • the application could be refused,
  • Not be admissible to Canada on medical, criminal or security grounds.
